Summer Forever with Bahari

Bahari wearing Jenny Dayco jewelry at Kaaboo Del mar

A range of my chokers recently made an appearance on the stunning Southern California all girl band Bahari! They’re currently performing in LA and San Diego with their easy, California cool tunes — the kind that makes you wanna go for a drive with the top down and just cruise ’til sunset!

The request was for chokers a-plenty, so I crafted a wide range of varying styles including simple leather ones, wraparound ones, thin stone chokers, and chokers with stone pendants. For me, it was actually fun to make stuff that’s a little different from my usual pieces, and it gave me a chance to finesse my choker-making skills for the next time around! As I said I don’t usually go for this style of chokers, but after seeing so many people wear them all over Instagram, just out and about, and even as an everyday accessory, I figured I’ll give a go of making some! Depending on how this goes it may even inspire me to try making some more jewellery too in the near future. So, if you’re searching for a choker or a particular style like this girl band is wearing, then you can take a look at what I’m offering or you can have a lookout elsewhere depending what you’re after.

Here are some more pics of Ruby Rose Carr, Sidney Sartini, and Natalia Panzarella of Bahari wearing my chokers are below! Photos courtesy of Ladygunn magazine, Getty Images, Kamara Morozuk, and John Hancock Photography.

Va-Va-Voom Vanessa Marano

Vanessa Marano wearing Jenny Dayco jewelry 1

My friend Josh Williams and I did a photo shoot with actress Vanessa Marano from the popular television shows “Switched at Birth” and “Gilmore Girls.” We met Vanessa at her house, which sits amongst a stunning landscape mix of giant golden fields and desert cacti, inspiring us to create different moods and looks!

On a day to day basis, Vanessa does comfy, easy chic and typically wears only black, or as I like to call it “summer goth”!  For the shoot, we explored different directions — from a Victorian turn of the century look, to a vintage 1920’s sequin inspired look, to a boho desert traveler, to a retro Vamp look!

Vanessa was so easy to work with, she was decisive, and really sweet!  It was refreshing to meet someone so passionate about her craft, and well-informed about world events, freely discussing politics and current events with no filter!  Look out for our images from the photo shoot on her Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

In the photo above, she is wearing a vintage dress from Swift Vintage, and my Shipwreck Pearl necklace!

Kaleo on Jimmy Kimmel Live

I cannot get enough of Kaleo’s music!  Thankfully JJ also can’t get enough of my jewelry either!  When stylist Audrey Brianne contacted me about their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, of course I agreed to make some custom pieces for them!  I actually taught myself how to macrame bracelets just for this project!  JJ ended up wearing his favorite carved horn and red pheasant feather necklace for this performance, but they all kept a significant chunk of my bracelets for their current tour!  Audrey told me that “[JJ] loved it all”, and “[He] was so thankful when I told him you made it all custom again.”  Up above is a video of them performing “No Good”, and just below is a video of them performing their hit song, “Way Down We Go”.  If you’re a fan of rock and roll and unique vocals, definitely pick up their debut album “A/B” out in stores, or preview it on Spotify!

Kaleo on Late Night With Seth Meyers

A few months ago, my stylist friend Audrey Brianne had asked to borrow a few pieces for a band she was styling called Kaleo. They were set to perform on Conan O’Brien. I hadn’t looked into their music before and ended up just taping the show. I was blown away by their song “Way Down We Go” and drawn to JJ’s husky, raspy blues voice.

They were set for more TV appearances and an upcoming tour, and JJ wanted more specific items, so Audrey organized for me to meet him at his hotel while he was on vocal rest. When I got to meet JJ in person, I was shocked at how tall and handsome he was in person!  Even though he couldn’t talk very much, I could sense that he was very sweet and kind, and seemed to possess a “wandering old soul” in a way.

My arms were full — I had basically brought along my entire jewelry kit: charms, chains, feathers, bits and all for him to choose from. JJ kept saying everything I had assembled together or picked out was “beautiful.” He then asked me why I brought feathers, and I laughingly told him, “I don’t know! I figured I would just bring everything for you to look at. And I think feathers can be a nice color contrast or texture against the charms you picked out.” Turns out my instinct was right, because almost everything he picked out had a feather on it!

He was drawn to things that seemed earthy, and definitely anything Native American inspired! I also taught him how to tell if a stone is real stone or not, which he enjoyed. (Hint: Natural stone is strangely cold to the touch, glass is not). At the end before leaving, he gave me a hug and I was thinking, “How many girls would want to be me right now?”

I ended up creating several custom necklaces based on the items he had previously picked out, and from there, he chose his favorite pieces. Not long after, he was already wearing one of the pieces on the show Late Night with Seth Meyers.

I’ll be posting the photos of JJ wearing my jewelry on my Instagram page and my Facebook page, but in the meantime, here’s a video of them performing on Late Night With Seth Meyers!  JJ is wearing my carved horn pendant and red pheasant tail necklace.  A big thanks to Audrey for putting us together, and it was such a pleasure working with a lovely and talented man!

Kaleo on Conan O’Brien

Last week my stylist friend Audrey Brianne did a request for a band she was styling for their tv appearance on Conan!  She said the band’s name was Kaleo, and they were from Iceland, and that this event was their first televised performance in the US!  She sent me some pics of them, and suggested I make some cool, earthy jewelry, using rocks and leather.  When I watched the show, I was so happy to see the bass player, Daníel Ægir Kristjánsson, wearing a couple of my bracelets!  He loved them so much he ended up buying them!  Also, their performance was incredible!  Such beautifully composed music, and the lead singer’s voice is uniquely compelling.  Audrey said that during the fitting, the guys kept playing with my pieces in particular, so fingers crossed that they’ll be rocking my pieces in the near future!

Ronda Rousey wearing my necklace!

Ronda Rousey wearing a hypersthene and gold arrow necklace by Jenny Dayco

Last night, my cousin Josephine Dayco Lock texted me and said that she was going to meet MMA champion Ronda Rousey at a press event in Sydney!  And that she was planning on giving my necklace to Ronda as a gift!  Cut to a few hours later (while I was asleep–Pacific Standard Time vs. Australia time), I woke up to find an awesome photo she sent me of Ronda wearing my vintage gold chain, hypersthene stone, and gold arrow necklace!  I was so excited!!  I’ve been a huge fan of Ronda’s since “The Expendables 3”, and most recently for “Furious 7”.  Looking forward to hopefully having her wear more pieces in the future!

Behind the scenes from Audrina Patridge’s first blog shoot!

Behind the scenes from Audrina Patridge blog shoot

So a few weeks ago, I got a call from my work husband, photographer Josh Williams!  He said that Audrina was planning on doing a photo shoot for her new blog, and wanted him and his team to work on it!  So naturally he called upon his glam squad dream team, myself and Jessica Oliver from Swift Vintage as wardrobe, hairstylist Briana Cisneros, and makeup artist Amy Clarke!  Audrina wanted to do a boho glam 1970’s style shoot–which was inspired by the likes of Jerry Hall, with a touch of bohemian glam!

The day was filled with lots of laughter and fun as we experimented with different types of 70’s looks!  At one point, we decided to do a shot of the crew–or basically what Audrina sees when she’s getting photographed!  Being behind the camera often, I never really think about what it looks like to the subject–having an audience stare back and looking to tweak things to make sure we get perfect shots!  Her blog launches at the end of this month, or at the beginning of September!  When her site is live, please visit!  And for more behind the scenes fun from this shoot, visit my Pinterest board at:

My first belt accessory on Steven Tyler!

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith wearing a Jenny Dayco belt accessory 2

OMG, I’m so excited to see pics of my little belt accessory on Aerosmith’s front man, Steven Tyler!  A couple months ago, wardrobe stylist Jana Lee contacted me about making some custom pieces for Steven’s upcoming tour.  He’s a big fan of wearing dangly bits and pieces off of his belt loops to give his outfits a little something “extra”!  So I made a couple of them (pictured is the red and brown one), and lo and behold–here are also pics of him wearing it during Aerosmith’s performance in Lake Tahoe on July 4th!  Looking forward to seeing more pics of the iconic rocker wearing my pieces!
