Earlier this year, I went on a spontaneous trip to the Big Island of Hawaii!  Happy to say that I crossed off "black sand beach" off of my bucket list, it was either going to be here or in Iceland!  (But Iceland is also on the bucket list as well)  Once we arrived at Punalu'u beach, it was marvelous to see the deep black color of the volcanic sand in contrast to the ocean.  I took as many photos as I could, but I also wanted to experience the unique serenity of this special place.
